WELD COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT 3
MEET LYNETTE
Lynette “Kilpatrick” Peppler's roots run deep in Weld County, where she grew up on her family’s dairy farm—a place that instilled in her the value of hard work and the importance of preserving the land that sustains us. A patriot at heart, Lynette proudly qualified as a marksman in the Marine Corps, a formative experience that solidified her lifelong commitment to upholding the rights and freedoms central to our nation’s identity.
After serving her country, Lynette's dedication found a new focus at home. She embraced the challenging yet rewarding task of homeschooling her children for 21 years, embedding the fabric of their education with the threads of Biblical values, civic understanding, and a deep appreciation for American history. These years weren't just about academic learning; they were about nurturing a sense of responsibility, integrity, and conservative ideals.
Now, with her children grown, her focus continues to be on the community of Weld County. She's a natural teacher and a steadfast advocate, pouring her energy into supporting adults with disabilities and maintaining the traditional values that form the backbone of the county. In addition to her advocacy, Lynette uses her extensive experience as a CDL instructor to equip new drivers with the skills necessary for safe and responsible operation of school buses, transit vehicles, and large trucks. Her hands-on approach is evident, whether she's engaging in local law enforcement volunteer work, teaching driving safety, or caring for her 98-year-old mother, ensuring the family farm continues to be a testament to resilience and a nurturing presence in the lives of future generations.
VISION &
PRIORITIES
A Weld County native raised on the family dairy farm. Lynette shoveled ditches, set tubes, drove trucks, fed, castrated, and branded calves, milked cows, and even shoveled “stuff”.
Her love for marching band eventually led to marching to a different drum and she was in the first company of female marines to qualify as marksmen.
Lynette’s career began at Western Gas Supply and Public ServiceCompany, where she completed inventory, purchasing/receiving, budgeting, payroll, served as an executive secretary, and handled billing and dispatch for high-pressure gas, electric meter, and lineman departments. At the age of 30, she chose to retire early to dedicate herself to raising and homeschooling her children from pre-K through 12th grade for the next 21 years. Her homeschool curriculum
emphasized Biblical values, American history, the U.S. Constitution, and government. She actively participated in various campaigns and addressed issues ranging from local to national, including pro-life initiatives, school choice, and water preservation for agriculture.
Additionally, Lynette taught driver’s education and skills in basic automotive tune-ups, along with property management techniques that covered plumbing, flooring, drywall, electrical work, and appliance service.
Volunteering and community service have been significant parts of daily life, including thousands of hours with the Weld County and State Sheriff’s Posse, and the Colorado Mounted Law Enforcement Association. This work involved training and collaborating with the Secret Service, Border Patrol, Federal Marshalls, Royal Mounted Canadian Police, National Parks Police, and agencies from across the country. She has also volunteered at over a dozen food bank locations, participated in Holocaust Memorial Observances, hosted Memorial Day Services, served on numerous boards and committees, played in community bands, and provided transportation for the elderly and disabled. Additionally, Lynette has assisted elderly individuals transitioning from their lifelong homes and making hundreds of visits to care facilities, hospitals, and hospice patients.
As an empty nester and a natural teacher, Lynette remains actively involved in assisting adults with disabilities. She has re-entered the workforce as a commercial driver and trainer, specializing in school buses, transit and passenger vehicles, Class B, and even 70 ft Class A semi-trucks. Additionally, she is a state-certified third-party Commercial Driver’s License tester, a demanding role not suited for the faint of heart. Lynette has also devotedly cared for her father during his 20-year struggle with Alzheimer’s until his passing. She now cares for her 98-year-old mother, helping her to continue living independently on the family farm where she has resided for over 55 years
01
AGRICULTURE
Lynette is committed to preserving prime agricultural land in Weld County, drawing on her deep connection to her family's dairy farm. She is focused on closing loopholes that allow developers to reclassify agricultural land, ensuring that development does not compromise the integrity of agricultural zoning. While promoting sustainable practices, Lynette supports responsible development that meets the growing needs of the community and boosts the economy, without hindering the viability of local farms. Her engagement and advocacy work to maintain the region's agricultural heritage for future generations, while also embracing growth that enhances Weld County.
02
FINANCIAL
Lynette champions conservative government and fiscal responsibility in Weld County, inspired by financial expert Dave Ramsey's principles of living debt-free and wise financial management. She will strive to implement these principles in county governance, focusing on tightening budgets instead of increasing taxes. Committed to maintaining current tax rates, her fiscal policy approach promotes prudent economic practices that aim for long-term stability and prosperity for the community.
03
SMALL BUSINESS
Lynette observed a troubling contradiction in Weld County where, despite official statements supporting small businesses, recent policy changes have made it increasingly difficult for these sectors to operate. The application process for new businesses has grown cumbersome and costly, and recent zoning adjustments have hindered the ability of small businesses to qualify. Committed to realigning county actions with its stated goals, Lynette advocates for simplifying business procedures and revising restrictive zoning laws to truly support the growth and sustainability of these vital sectors.
04
LAW ENFORCEMENT
Lynette demonstrates her commitment to law enforcement through extensive volunteer work with the Weld County and State Sheriff’s Posses, and the Colorado Mounted Law Enforcement Association, all funded personally. She has also collaborated with national agencies like the Secret Service, Border Patrol, Federal Marshals, Royal Mounted Canadian Police, and National Parks Police. Lynette is dedicated to strengthening police-community relationships in Weld County, supporting these agencies to ensure they are responsive to local needs, thereby enhancing public safety and justice.
